Kevin Shenoy

On August 2nd, 1978, Bitterness got a new name. 2009 is a new year and I believe I will change the format from the 2004-2006 version. This is going to be more diary-like than before, but if there are funny stories out there, I'll comment on them.

Dubai - Before we go

Well, this is fairly uneventful. We are off to Dubai tomorrow morning. Shelly's completely packed...i'm stunned. We are traveling in Coach. Not inside Craig T Nelson. That would be awful....moreso than what traveling coach already is. I will be trying the old, "can you please not make us suffer in economy?" I might even try the old Ko Simpson approach, "I'm Kevin Shenoy, i'm with the Buffalo Bills (fanbase). I'm worth hundreds."

I am excited for this trip. There is a sense of adventure. Since we aren't staying in a hotel, we really know nothing about the 1 bedroom apartment we are staying in. Krissy and James have given us a good idea, but it's not like its on tripadvisor.com and we can check it out. I can't remember a time i've traveled this free spirited.

We got the video camera ready for skiing indoors, we are attempting a desert safari (not once but twice), and we are going to Wild Wadi. For some reason, ever since Typhoon Lagoon, i've become a total sucker for waterparks.

I learned in 1998 that Typhoon Lagoon was amazing. Then later that same summer I realized that all waterparks are not created equal. The girl I was dating at the time went to a Saratoga Springs water park with me. Cold water, long lines, cheap parents, out of control kids. It was awful. It was like being inside of Craig T Nelson.

So now, like fine wine, i only sip on the creme de la creme of water parks. Wild Wadi has a surf section where you can ride a wave in place called the flow rider. Do a search on youtube. It looks amazing, right? They also have an uphill water roller coaster. I've never done either. I'm just very excited.

The only drawback? My wife, Shelly, burns when she thinks about the sun too long. Meanwhile, i've actually gone cartoon black with no issues. What is cartoon black? IT's when you are so dark that the only way people can see you in the movie theater is to smile or open your eyes.

So that's pretty much it. We get to see Krissy, James and baby Sydnie. They've hooked us up with a place to stay which is awesome. Originally we thought we'd stay at one of the premier hotels in Dubai, and then we realized that we've promised our first born to someone else. Apparently there is no street value for second born children. No one can explain to me why that is the case.

Anyways, keep reading for the next couple weeks, because video, pictures and stories will be put up.
